Emma' Most Memorable Camp

My most memorable moment at camp was the tree climbing. I felt ecstatic as I scaled the old gum tree. The rain pounding down on my black puffa jacket. The great gum tree towers over me as I yank myself higher and higher until I reached the very last wooden step.

My heart is pounding as I grasp hold of the last blue wooden step that was terrifically nailed in to the glistening white bark. I excitedly look around from the top, to see the roofs of the cosy bunk rooms and below my belay team straining on the red and blue patterned rope.

That was a moment I will never forget.

My most notable part of camp was the forceful lazy river. Because Olly was driving me around like a chauffeur, while I relaxed.

My most memorable moment of camp was waking up in the morning putting our warm clothes on and having a massive snow ball fight with the friends in my tribe.I got absolutely drenched in wet water and snow .I also liked rock climbing because it was fun getting b-layed down the side of the step rock by someone in your tribe.

HELP HELP SOS Helpers for the fair

I know some of you are committed to other classes. However if you are not and find any spare time on the night please come over to the inflateable to relieve the 3 helpers we have. It will be much appreciated.

I only had 2 helpers offer from my note home yesterday, so if you are able to contribute 1 hr or even 30mins please put you name on the noticeboard outside the door or send a note in. No pick up or drop off helpers yet either. I have the bond for the pick up at Mitre 10 so see me if you can do this.

Im sure im speaking to the converted but this is a huge fundraiser, a massive undertaking by parents as volunteers. They need us all to do a little to help gain a lot. Please give your time if you can.

Thank you
Dionne

MLE. Parent Information Evening

So excited about our journey. Thanks to all the parents that came along tonight to listen, share and question. Hope it helps shed some light on the direction for future classrooms.

Google cars taking over the taxi driver. Wow, but I can see it becoming our reality in my lifetime.

Technology is moving fast!

Consider the in the last 5 years. The ipad or tablet became common place for us. We now have mini computers in our pockets.  I wonder whats around the corner in the next 5 years.

Thought id share a moment during last term Inquiry looking at innovation, a discussion led to the students being shocked when they discovered that I was alive when the World Wide Web was introduced. Yes before the internet!
As you can imagine they really think i'm old now. However, they just couldn't understand a time without it, where as I remember, I couldn't understand how I would use it!

Reality is, innovation, fast devices, services, apps  continually reshape the employment landscape and future for our children.

Ginnie is putting all the info and the links to tonights slideshow presentation on the school website if you wanted to check it out. Really interesting stuff.

Camp

Hanmer Springs camp was awesome!  Thank you Thank you.

Thank you all the parents for sending your kids, it was a huge few days of learning.

Learning outside the classroom, they all learnt a little more about each other and a lot about themselves.

Trying new things and pushing through thoughts and feelings of fear and worry to take risks, to trust those around them and climb higher. Literally - Tree climbing was so memorable. So many thought they couldn't  go higher, but pushed themselves and did. Well done all of you.
I have some really special moments watching the climbers. Fear changed to determination and success. Wow!

It was so wonderful to see the children working outside the classroom walls, many were able to shine and highlighted for me a variety of strengths and confidence in a range of different situations and contexts.

It even snowed on Tueday night,  which was a real treat for me!

They all loved the pools, especially the night swim, the steam rising off hot pools in freezing outside temperature and mood lighting were just magical.

We are making i-movies for camp so will be posting for you to view when they are finished.
